educates members and others about the importance of active citizenship, and encourages participation in related activities.

The Public Affairs Department consists of two programs, Focus on Community Safety and Citizenship in Action.

Focus on Community Safety brought to light at club meetings, several new identity theft scams and informed our members how to protect themselves against these different ways of jeopardizing their identity but also bank accounts and other secure information.  There was also information passed on regarding how to ward off an attempted rape and what to do if someone tries to abduct you.  This was obtained from a class given by the local police department.

Citizenship in Action highlighted the importance of the up-coming census and why everyone should cooperate with the Census takers with complete and honest information.  Before elections, the Public Affairs Chairman brings in an informed individual to explain ballot measures and answer questions members may have regarding voting.
