Where IS she? Since the CSWC’s Summer Social, Sandy says that Haylla has "gone missing". Maybe she's on her way back to Patty Todd's since that's the only home she's known. Maybe she's been kidnapped. Maybe she has a boy friend. Who knows? Note to non-members: Haylla is our International Affairs mascot. Her name means “Unexpected Gifts” in Swahili. Two years ago, member Patty Todd brought her to the first meeting of the year as a reminder of our contributions to the Heifer Project. Haylla has gone to every International Night Out and has been fed generously with monies matching our gratuities; she has come to every Club meeting and has gathered monies from the food items and crafts that were left on her table; she has prodded members to donate monetary birthday and holiday gifts to Heifer through GFWC-Florida as part of District 13’s contributions. She’s worked hard and probably needs a little time off – but we need to know if she’s safe and cared for. If anyone spots her or hears from her, please send a message to Peter, our webmaster. petergrom@hotmail.com We won't have a newsletter or meetings for a few months so we'll have to depend on our GFWC-CSWC.org website for updates or appeals. Peter will post all sightings and/or messages on the website so that all of us can keep an eye out for her. With the public's increased use of the Internet, our website may do the trick. Someone in the community may be able to help, too. We need to get her back to Sandy’s Club Stable in time for our first meeting. Here is a photo of her with Ruthann and Bert at our 2010 Installation. It’s the last sighting! Click on Haylla to go to her Adventure page The Founding of Our Club On September 10, 1970, seven women met at the home of Mrs. Eugene Sargent to discuss the establishment of a Federated Woman's Club in Coral Springs. A bylaws committee was appointed and each of the women was asked to "bring a friend" to the next meeting on September 17th. Apparently the women were so excited that some invited more than just one firend. There were sixteen at the next meeting!
