FAQ
1. Who are we?
GFWC-Coral Springs Woman’s Club members are women over the age of 18. We are working women, stay-at-home moms, and retirees. Members are dedicated to furthering educational, civic, and charitable activities both locally and globally, as well as promoting growth among our members.
2. When and where does the club meet?
OUR GENERAL MEETINGS SCHEDULE
General meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month September - April
at 7:30 P.M.
The location is:
Cypress Hall in Cypress Hammock Park
1300 Coral Springs DriveCoral Springs, FL 33065
3. Must you live in Coral Springs to join?
No! Presently, South Florida cities represented by members also include: Boynton Beach, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Lauderdale Lakes, Margate, and Parkland.
4. What are the expectations of a member?
Members take an active interest in participating in the work of our Club. Each member volunteers for at least two committees – one of the departmental committees and one of the standing committees, but may participate in other activities, too.
Members are required to attend at least three general meetings throughout the year to be eligible to vote in Club elections.
5. What do we do for the community?
GFWC-CSWC provides an annual scholarship to a woman of non-traditional age returning to college. Members organize and participate in community events, such as “Drop Everything and Read” (DEAR) and National Authors’ Day at the library, and donate books to local schools, laundromats, and emergency room waiting areas.
Members keep a designated street in Coral Springs “litter-free” through our Curbsiders project. They also sew and stuff bears to be donated to hospital pediatric departments and heart-shaped pillows that are given to hospital patients after surgery.
Educational and leadership opportunities are offered through varied programs at monthly meetings, featuring local community members. Club members visit art galleries, support veterans in hospitals, and celebrate World Food Day. The Club has a taster’s luncheon each spring and an auction during the holidays as well as other fund-raising events to benefit charities and Club programs.
A monthly newsletter is published, supported by local sponsors. The Club encourages an active interest in state and national legislation. Additionally, our members are provided with an annual yearbook and benefit personally through participation in committee work and social events as they form and strengthen friendships with other women who share their willingness to volunteer as a means of improving the community in which they live.
Refer to other pages of the gfwc-cswc.org website for more of the Club’s activities and accomplishments.
